Guitar Film Fest at Guitar Player Live!

Featuring one of the country’s premiere showings of It Might Get Loud from the director of An Inconvenient Truth

 

 

Guitar Player LIVE!, presented by the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center and Guitar Player magazine will feature over 30 bands on four outdoor free stages, free clinics, concerts at the Bankhead Theater, an international guitar-playing competition, plus a constant stream of guitar movies.

 

Guitar Player LIVE! attendees can purchase a Vine Cinema “All Access Pass” and experience “all you can see” classic and cult films including Gimme Shelter, This Is Spinal Tap, Woodstock, Yellow Submarine, A Mighty Wind, and Across the Universe during the Guitar Player LIVE! weekend. 

 

It Might Get Loud, a guitar documentary featuring Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White will have its premiere showing on Friday, September 11 at 12:30 p.m. This new documentary was conceived by producer Thomas Tull and directed and produced by An Inconvenient Truth’s Davis Guggenheim. Tickets are available for a separate admission fee. The Vine Cinema, an independent film house, will be serving beer, wine and food.                     

 

The Vine Cinema is also where Session Stories, featuring interviews with guitar greats Steve Lukather, Earl Slick, Carl Verheyen and Laurence Juber will be held.

Saturday, September 12th - Gimme Shelter 7:30 pm, Woodstock (1970 Original) 9:30 pm, Yellow Submarine 11:30 pm                

Sunday, September 13th - A Mighty Wind Noon, Gimme Shelter 2:30 pm, Across the Universe 4:45 pm

Individually priced tickets can be purchased at the Vine Cinema - $7.00 for Matinee, $9.50 for Evening showings.

Session Stories with Carl Verheyen and Laurence Juber

Guitar Player Editor in Chief Michael Molenda sits with Carl Verheyen (Supertramp, Bee Gees, film and television sessions) and Laurence Juber (Paul McCartney and Wings, solo fingerstylist) to discuss the art and craft of playing movie and television sessions, working with famous artists, and dialing in tones and musical parts that bring a song to life.

$20 per session, includes tickets to It Might Get Loud.
